Wealth Building with City of Newport News
In collaboration with the City of Newport News, Brooks Crossing, and the African American Mayor’s Association’s Economic Mobility Institute (EMLI), Ivy Community Outreach is an active partner in the Breakthroughs in Wealth Building initiative—a citywide effort to close the racial wealth gap and empower residents with the tools for lasting financial stability.
This transformative program reaches both city employees and the broader Newport News community through workshops, cohort programs, and financial literacy events.
Equipping Residents with Financial Literacy
ICO has supported the initiative by leading targeted workshops focused on:

Homeownership – helping participants understand mortgage options, credit repair, and the path to owning a home.

Estate Planning – educating families on wills, trusts, asset protection, and generational wealth transfer.
This effort reflects our commitment to walk alongside city leaders, local banks, real estate professionals, and nonprofit partners to create a more financially empowered Newport News.
